The Owner of Kim’s Cafe

Kim’s Café grew out of something simple: writing things down, asking questions, and noticing what became clearer when I gave myself space to reflect.

Over time, those reflections began shaping the idea for Beach to Desert™ and the journal I started developing around it.

The name itself is personal in a different way. I grew up on an island in the UK, where the coast was always part of the landscape and the sea felt woven into everyday life.

Nearly twenty years ago, I made Arizona home. There, I discovered an entirely different landscape — vast, dry, resilient, beautiful in its own way, and sometimes demanding.

Somewhere between those two landscapes, Beach to Desert began to make sense. Not as a story about choosing one place over another, but as a reminder that different environments, seasons, and experiences can reveal different things to us.

Kim’s Café is the creative home of Beach to Desert™.

It’s where I’ll continue exploring the ideas behind the brand — reflection and journaling, certainly, but also travel, creativity, everyday experiences, useful questions, and the things we notice when we give ourselves a little more space to think.

Some posts may begin with a question. Others with a place, an idea, something worth trying, or eventually a story of change that feels useful to share.

The aim isn’t to provide perfect answers.

It’s to create thoughtful tools, ideas, and moments that might help you discover more of your own.
